New Year’s Eve in thought.
Wow, it is hard to believe that another year has gone by. It seems like yesterday that I was sitting at home watching 2007 come to an end, and yet I remember back when 1999 was coming to an end.
In this evening I think back of what 2008 had brought me, some good I remembered but a whole lot of bad I definitely recall. Another year, amazing, how I am getting through it? I have had some memorable times, some depressing times, and some times I'd rather forget; but here I am tonight sitting and pondering how the bridge of life stood up and brought me to another chapter in my book of life.
I write my own book, every chapter is another story and/or another journey of my very own life. The catch is this book still continues to be written and hopefully has several more years of writing left in it.
Remember the last time you actually sat down and really thought about your years of life? Kind of scary isn't it? But yet no matter how long or far or how harsh or great it was we still made it to this very night and will make it to another year in the books. However young you are or however old you are, you still can remember back the days of history. The day 9-11 struck. The day Princess Diana left our world. The day we chose a different side to American politics. The day space shuttle Challenger and Columbia left us wondering. The days when television kept us interested after school and on Friday nights, then don't forget the days when television left us crying at the last episode. The day we saw our first snow day or the day we felt our first major hurricane or even Earthquake. The day we stood up and said this is the day I say I do or the day we all took life by its hand and said we can succeed.
As we struggle, we stand. As we hurt, we stood together. As we falter, we all helped us threw it. As we live, we all remember each other. We are our memories, and together we will all never be forgotten. Tonight we gather to say good-bye, but not to each other but to a year in review. Another chapter in our own books and in the history books.
I think the joys of life are not learning the negatives sides of life but learning the greatest things that life had and has to offer. We grow from our mistakes and we live off of our growth. So as we lead our lives into another new year let's remember that our destiny is the foundation of which we travel on.
Looking back is not a failure but a progression towards your tomorrow. As we say good-bye to 2008 and welcome 2009, remember we are the only one's that can make a great history or bad history; and no matter how it is developed it will become the end of another chapter in our yearly lives.
May we all prosper to a better tomorrow. All the best my friends. Thank you for being in my book of life and allowing me to be in yours. Until next year have a good night and I plan to see each an every one of you at our next orientation on the book of our lives!
Happy New Years.
